Feedback from the CPV community has resulted in a number of changes to the Concentrated Photovoltaic World Map, the 2012 version of which has been released this month. It details operational and pre-operational installations across six continents, and now features country specific maps for the USA, China, Taiwan, Australia, Spain and Italy, as well as giving project size and technology data.
“This year’s map reflects the expansion of the CPV industry into exciting new geographical markets,” explains Matt Carr of PV Insider, “and multi megawatt projects are now coming into operation”.
Substantial growth in the US project pipeline
As mentioned, the Concentrated Photovoltaic Map series includes country-specific breakdowns, including the PV Plants Map USA 2012, which will be launched at the launch of the 3rd Utility Scale PV Plant Optimization Summit USA (17-18 October, San Jose).
Researchers at PV Insider have completed work on the map, which details the size and location of over 200 PV plants that are currently operating, under construction or planned in this region, as well as the developer and power purchaser of each project.
“The PV plants map shows the substantial growth in the PV project pipeline in the United States, and the event is aimed at helping developers of these projects overcome the key challenges faced in plant design and construction, as well as on-going O&M,” comments Jack Ahearne who is organising October’s event.
