The Chinese company Trina Solar has announced that it will supply 30MW of solar PV equipment to Gestamp Solar, a company involved in development and management, for two projects in South Africa.
The projects will be located in the towns of Prieska and De Aar with a capacity to generate 20MW and 10MW respectively. The delivery of the equipment will be made during the third quarter of 2013 according to the terms of the agreement.
“Trina Solar panels offer excellent efficiency and performance, and the company provides a wide range of solutions and services” said Jorge Barredo, CEO of Gestamp Solar. “Gestamp Solar has been working on the development of projects with Trina Solar since the early days of the European photovoltaic industry because, as well as the excellent quality of their products, they have always been reliable suppliers.”
Trina Solar’s multicrystalline PC05 series modules were chosen for their 15 percent efficiency as well as their ability to generate up to 245W. They also benefit from high performance under low light conditions and are able to bear snow loads of up to 5,400Pa and wind loads of up to 2,400Pa. Trina Solar’s panels also come with a 10 year workmanship warranty and a 25 year linear power output warranty.
Gestamp Solar is part of the Gestamp Corporation, a European multinational involved in steel services and automotive components alongside renewable energy. It regularly carries out big solar energy projects across the world.
