The team showed the MP how they were managing over 50 projects across Scotland from their Scottish-based control center and how their experience has provided the platform for recent international growth.
The team talked to the MP about how they were now supporting projects in Europe and Africa and are keen to work with stakeholders to help expand this international service, creating jobs and growth for Scotland, while delivering vital zero-carbon power for developing countries.
Scotland has an abundance of untapped hydropower projects, they said, that are ready to be rolled out and deliver affordable power at times of highest demand.
Brown commented, “It was a pleasure to be hosted by Green Highland. They really demonstrated their expertise in hydro, and it is amazing to hear how many small-scale hydro schemes have been implemented in recent years. Even more important is the potential for more hydro schemes and the skills base and the supply chain that exists needs to be fully utilized. It is important that the UK Government provide further price support for electricity generated by hydro, a long-lasting, proven renewable technology.
"It was fascinating to see their control center where, as well as managing the Highland portfolio, they are managing sites in Romania and Africa! It was useful insight into how Green Highland is able to assist developing countries maximise the efficiency of their schemes through their operational knowledge.
"We really need to utilize Green Highland to their full potential.”
