The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Andalusia Regional Government, José Antonio Griñán; the Counsellor of Innovation, Science and Business, Martín Soler Márquez; the Mayoress of Aldeire, Teresa Vilardell Reitg; the Chairman of ACS Actividades de Construcción y Servicios, Florentino Pérez Rodríguez; and the Chairman of ACS Servicios, Comunicaciones y Energía, Eugenio Llorente Gómez.
The ANDASOL Project is being developed in Aldeira in the province of Granada. Andasol-1 will be joined in the coming months by Andasol-2, Andasol-4, Extresol-1, Extresol-2, Extresol-3, Manchasol-1 and Manchasol-2, as the different phases of the project are brought on line.
COBRA ENERGíA, a company forming part of the ACS Group’s Industrial Services Division, has invested around Euros 300 million in Andasol-1, a complex consisting of 510,120 square metres of mirrors occupying an area of 200 hectares.
Andasol-1 and Andasol-2 of the ANDASOL Project generate enough electricity to supply 30,000 homes without fluctuations or interruptions in supply, and avoid 149,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per annum.
