The Hassi R’Mel-ISCC plant, as it name suggests, is an integrated solar combined cycle plant, which consists of two 40-MW gas turbines, an 80-MW steam turbine, two heat recovery steam generators, an air-cooled condenser and a solar field of 224 parabolic trough collectors covering an area of 600,000 square metres.
The implementation of the open cycle is at an advanced stage, having already completed the “cold commissioning” of the gas turbine, regulation station and gas measurement, high voltage system, compressed air, fire protection and cooling: Meanwhile, progress is being made in implementing the closed cycle, having started the commissioning of the steam turbine, water treatment plant and chemical injection.
The construction phase, which is nearing completion, has involved 1,000,000 cubic metres of earthwork, 18,000 cubic metres of concrete, 1.4 million kilogrammes of structural reinforced steel, 80,000 welding inches and 12,000 square metres of industrial buildings and other facilities.
According to a recent press release, progress made so far on the Algerian plant demonstrates Abener and Teyma’s “ability to assume large projects jointly, with competence and effectiveness, optimising the objectives of time and performance”.
