Intersolar 2008 exceeds expectations

“Never before has Intersolar had more exhibitors, more visitors and more different nations represented. At the new Munich venue, Intersolar has reached a new dimension. According to the last preliminary count, we were able to welcome visitors from more than 130 nations at Intersolar. The response was truly overwhelming and we are very pleased about opening up such a successful new chapter for Intersolar at the new Munich location,” says Markus Elsässer, Managing Director of Solar Promotion GmbH, one of the two organizers of Intersolar.

Klaus W. Seilnacht, Managing Director of Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH, the other organizer of Intersolar, is also delighted with the start in Munich: “After our extremely successful years in Freiburg, Intersolar could not have wished for a better launch at the new location. The growth in international attendance, size and the number of exhibitors and visitors means that we are well-prepared for the future.”

Exhibitors and visitors highly satisfied
Visitors and exhibitors were extremely satisfied with Intersolar 2008, particularly in view of the more than 50,000 international visitors, the international range and the 120% increase in exhibition area. Volker Wasgindt, Head of PR at SMA Solar Technology AG:

“We are thrilled about the high levels of interest which visitors showed not just in SMA but in Intersolar in general. The growth of the photovoltaics industry is also clearly reflected in the increased international orientation of the trade show. Munich offers a suitable environment for this.”

Innovations which excelled: Intersolar AWARD 2008
This year, the organizers of Intersolar, in co-operation with the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar) presented the first Intersolar AWARD.

The prizes for the categories "Photovoltaics" and "Solar Thermal Technology" will be awarded annually by an independent jury. The Intersolar AWARD is to become an international institution for outstanding technical innovation within the solar industry, honoring novel, ground-breaking products and services in the areas of photovoltaics and solar thermal technology.

“At the new Munich location, Intersolar has raised the bar once again and set itself high standards for the future. Along with all the exhibitors, we are thrilled about the resounding success of the trade show. It is especially pleasing that Intersolar does not only want to grow in size, but also wants to put the spotlight on particularly innovative companies,” says Carsten Körnig, CEO of the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar).

Since the Intersolar AWARD was presented on the first day of Intersolar, the winners were able to benefit from increased interest in their products during the trade show. Phoenix Solar AG from Sulemoos, Skytron Energy from Berlin and SMA Solar Technology AG from Niestetal were honored for their innovative products in the area of photovoltaics this year. PAW GmbH & Co. KG from Hameln received the award in the category of solar thermal technology. In future, up to three companies will be awarded a prize in each of the categories every year.
