As part of the effort, Akihito Ohata, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry will travel to the United Arab Emirates for a series of meetings beginning on 10 January.
The magazine quoted Toshio Kosuge, an official with the Japanese agency, as confirming the talks and explaining that the talks with Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s government-backed renewable energy company, include both a feasibility study to be followed by demonstration tests in Masdar City.
In a separate report, Japan’s Nikkei newspaper reported Tuesday that the tests may happen as early as this spring and Japan may invest as much as 3 billion yen (€27.5 million) in the three-year project.
The potential partnership on the heels of an announcement on 13 December that NEITDO had signed an agreement to collaborate on solar energy projects with Morocco, and would build a solar thermal power generation facility in El Borma (Tunisia).
