Solel seals 150 MW CSP deal

Solel Solar Systems has announced a contract to provide 70,000 UVAC 2008 solar collectors for three new plants to be built in Spain.

According to the agreement, Solel will provide the CSP material to a Spanish consortium that is at the moment developing three CSP plants with 50 MW each.

The supply contract, which is the largest received so far for UVAC 2008 units, will start next year. The UVAC 2008 collector is able to reduce losses by 20% compared to alternative collectors, according to the tests carried out by the US Department of Energy last January. Losses are the best indicator for a collector's efficiency. The UVAC 2008 is, additionally, able to extend the collector's lifetime thanks to its hydrogen absorption system.

According to Mr Avi Brenmiller, Solel's President and CEO, this order is unprecedented and is helping the company to lead the competitive CSP market.
