The wind turbines consist of ECO 122, ECO 110 and ECO 100 models and are scheduled for delivery between January 2017 and January 2018. The Umburanas wind complex will supply 355.5 MW of renewable electricity to around 700,000 people.
The new order is part of an agreement signed between both companies in 2013, involving the supply of more than 440 wind turbines, for a minimum installed capacity of 1.5 GW. The agreement also includes operation and maintenance services worth over 1 billion euros.
“Our partnership with Renova Energia is one of the largest onshore agreements in the wind industry globally” said Yves Rannou, Senior Vice President of Alstom Wind business. “This new order confirms the positive development of this agreement, which aims to offer sustainable and clean energy to the population.”
The turbines will manufactured at the Alstom facility in Camacari. The company’s ECO 100 is a proven model developed as a result of more than 30 years’ experience. All Alstom wind turbines are based upon the unique and proven Alstom Pure Torque rotor support concept that protects the drive train from deflection loads, ensuring higher reliability and lower maintenance costs.
The company builds and operates wind farms all over the world and has more than 2,600 turbines currently installed or under construction in 200 wind farms, delivering over 5,000 MW.
