When the three new wind farms in the state of Oaxaca enter service, a process that is supposed to last through December, they will bring Acciona’s total Mexican capacity up to 556.5 MW, and its total market share to about 65 percent.
The company’s existing plant, called Eurus, has been operational since 2009. It supplies electricity to the Cemex company’s cement plants in Mexico.
The company invested more than €450 million ($609 million) in the just completed projects (Oaxaca II, Oaxaca III and Oaxaca IV) ), each with a capacity of 102 MW.
The facilities consist of a combined 204 Accioma 1.5 MW turbines and will produce electricity equivalent to the consumption of almost 600,000 Mexican homes.
