Cognitive Business – which supports owner operators with the planning of data driven and accurate maintenance programmes – has its Wind AI production forecasting technology running on the Robin Rigg windfarm located in the Solway Firth.
The data modelling technology enables owner operators to convert their data into machine learning models which take into consideration array-shape and wake and can predict turbine-specific revenues hour-by-hour. This enable the optimisation of day-ahead maintenance planning, drives production increases across sites and enables maintenance programmes to be scheduled and delivered based on precise data analysis.
Providing a functionality which includes pinpointing the most profitable turbines so maintenance programmes can be directed elsewhere, Cognitive’s Production Forecasting Technology ensures windfarms operate to optimum performance and profitability is maximised across sites.
“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to work directly with Robin Rigg windfarm to simplify and improve daily decision making, through the use of what is under the hood, an extremely complex technology” said Lee Beresford, Head of Engineering at Cognitive Business, speaking about the company’s recognition at RWE’s Global Innovation Awards. “For our work to have been recognised by RWE at the company’s Global Innovation Awards is a fantastic reward for our ongoing work together.”
The awards have been launched to showcase the technologies being delivered across the RWE supply chain and across many of the company’s projects.
“Cognitive’s AI production forecasting technology enables us to operate Robin Rigg to the optimum performance levels and to maximise profitability across our windfarm” added Paul Hendren, Production Manager at RWE, speaking about the recognition. “Robin Rigg is a mature windfarm and – whilst RWE is an experienced operator – we are still very much focused on finding solutions that draw out remaining opportunities at make additional savings and drive further efficiencies. Working with Cognitive and its technology enables us to do exactly that.”
Robin Rigg was one of the UK’s largest windfarms when it opened in April 2010. Producing enough electricity to power 137,000 homes the windfarm offsets around, 230,000 tonnes of CO² emissions each year.
