The wind farms are part of the offshore call for tender programme initiated by the French government in 2011 and will contribute to French energy targets laid down in the EU's Climate and Energy Package. Under the terms of the agreement, Schneider Electric will supply transformers and circuit breakers for AREVA’s wind farms which will be manufactured at two Schneider Electric’s French industrial sites near Metz and Grenoble.

Louis-François Durret, CEO of AREVA Renewables, added that the agreement underscores AREVA’s commitment to developing a complete industrial sector in France with accompanying job opportunities and harnessing local expertise.
