The projects were built with 19 Vestas V80 2.0 MW wind turbines, with a total installed capacity of 38MW, and will be maintained by Availon for 10 years.
“We are very pleased to have won this contract which underpins our continued successful relationship with NIBC Infrastructure Partners," said Ulrich Schomakers, Availon’s Chief Executive. "The trend towards full service agreements is constantly increasing. Availon has now over 300 units under its full service agreements. This figure far exceeds our initial expectations.”
“A growing number of WTGs are reaching an age where they require intensive service," he continued. "Operators and investors as well as banks and insurers are increasingly looking for reliable full maintenance services in order to safeguard the long-term viability of their investment, increase the availability of the WTGs, and so ensure a sustained return in future.”
The three German wind farms are located in Schnellin (Sachsen-Anhalt), Helmstedt (Niedersachsen) and Büddenstedt (Niedersachsen).
Under the agreement, Availon will perform regular maintenance of the Vestas turbines twice a year, as well as unscheduled maintenance when required.
With “WindKeeper Complete”, the WTG operator is able to shift virtually all of the risks to the service provider. The scope of performance provided by full service agreements of this kind includes the replacement of major components and, depending on WTG type, up to six upgrades designed to enhance its availability or safety.
