China offers solar and wind technology to Pakistan

Mr Zhang Chunxiang, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, who last Friday visited the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that China concedes preference to Pakistan in all fields including trade. The Ambassador said last week that China could transfer its solar and wind energy technology to its neighbor Pakistan in order to help the country overcome its current energy crisis, which is undoubtedly affecting its growth potential. This agreement is explained by the fact that the Lahore area in Pakistan is home to one of the eight special economic zones that China has established outside its territory.

Mr Chunxiang urged Pakistani businessmen to increase their trade with Chinese partners, and said that these are looking forward to establishing joint ventures in Pakistan. The objective is to double the size of this trade each year. Also, the Ambassador said that he would discuss with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on the ways to increase bilateral trade between the two countries, including -among others- renewable energy technologies.

Besides of the trade plans announced, the Pakistani Government of Punjab has allocated 500 acres of land to China National Power Ltd in Faisalabad Industrial Estate (FIEDMC) to establish an industrial area including 50 megawatt power project.
