Under the contract, Siemens will supply and install 27 turbines for the 62 MW Teesside project, while Van Oord will provide the balance of plant, including foundations and sub-sea cabling.
EDF Energy Renewables is a joint venture between EDF Energy and EDF Energies Nouvelles.
Preliminary work on the project has been underway since November 2010. Officials with EDF said that as Teesside will be its first offshore wind farm, it wanted to chose experienced contactors to ensure the smooth development of the project.
"We are extremely happy to have closed the wind turbine and balance of plant contracts with two very experienced companies in the offshore wind industry," said EDF Energy Renewables chief executive Christian Egal.
The project is expected to begin exporting power to the grid in late 2012. Once it is the wind farm will have the capacity to serve up to 40,000 households.
