The Thorup-Sletten wind farm, west of the Aggersund bridge in northwestern Jutland, will generate enough electricity to supply the annual consumption of approximately 65,000 households. The installation of the turbines will commence in October this year, with Siemens Gamesa being responsible for service and maintenance for 20 years through a long-term service programme tailored specifically to Euro Wind.
“This is yet another project proving that onshore wind will continue to be an important part of the energy mix to keep Denmark at the forefront of wind energy” said Jens Rasmussen, CEO for Euro Wind Energy. “We have chosen Siemens Gamesa because we looked around in the market to find a turbine that is a great match for very windy conditions and can deliver a high quality product at a highly competitive price. The upgrade of the turbine from 3.6 MW to 4.3 MW together with the 130 metre rotors was important in order to get the lowest cost per kilowatt hour”.
Steven Pryor, Siemens, Gamesa's Onshore Business Unit CEO for North Europe and Middle East, added that winning the bid from Euro Wind means a lot to the company and will enable it to continue driving the transformation to renewable energy in Denmark.
