The company has achieved its initial crowdfunding target during the private phase of the campaign and has now opened the campaign to the public. The fundraise brings Gazelle’s total amount raised to over $15 million in less than 12 months.
The crowdfunding campaign is in collaboration with startup fundraising platform Seedrs. With the private phase of the crowdfund completed, it is now open to the public, extending the opportunity for additional retail investors to get involved.
“We believe that we are on the fast path to accelerate the advancement of offshore wind—but we can’t do it alone. We want to allow retail investors an opportunity to join our network of great partners, investors, and supporters,” Gazelle President and Founder Jon Salazar said. “In recent weeks, we’ve seen the importance of energy independence, but this transition requires effective collaboration by many forward-thinking individuals worldwide.”
The Gazelle is a new concept that ingeniously utilizes the geometry of the mooring to mitigate the extreme forces encountered in floating offshore wind. Its elegant design results in a lightweight, stable, and durable deepwater floating platform that could offer 30% less cost and less environmental impact than currently deployed platforms. Gazelle could define the next generation of floating wind turbine generators as a viable solution to unlock the untapped potential of the offshore wind market and accelerate the clean energy transition.
As a 2021 portfolio company of Katapult Investment Group, Gazelle was also a Global Winner at the Uniting Water Energy Food Finals out of more than 1,800 companies and a finalist in two award categories for the S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards.
