The Cuxhaven, Germany-based firm has now submitted the documentation required for the binding agreement to the grid connection to operator TenneT, and the wind company aims to begin construction of the offshore wind farm in 2012.
At the same time, it has signed a number of contracts and preliminary agreements, the most critical perhaps being a deal with Vestas to supply 84 of its V112 3 MW offshore wind turbines for the project.
PNE WIND has also entered preliminary contracts with MT Højgaard A/S for monopile foundations, Draka Norsk Kabel AS for internal wind farm cabling, and ALSTOM Grid GmbH for the transformer station.
In other PNE WIND news, the Danish company DONG Energy A/S has officially advised its German counterpart that it will construct and finance the offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund I in the North Sea.
PNE WIND AG had been developing the offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund I since the mid-2000s, at first alone and then in a joint venture with DONG Energy. It sold its share of the project to DONG Energy in late 2009, but continues to be a service provider on the project.
Borkum Riffgrund I is DONG Energy’s first German wind farm. The company is investing about €1.25 billion in the project, construction of which is expected to begin in 2013.
