The expanded wind farm, located off the coast of Zeeland, will supply around 1.4 million households with renewable energy and will therefore become one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms. The two companies are carrying out environmental impact assessments and appropriate assessment preparation for the two plots and are also preparing the ground for innovation in the areas of wind turbines, foundations, construction and maintenance. The results of these studies will form an important base for the issuing of calls to tender.
Grontmij and Pondera Consult were responsible for the environmental impact assessments and appropriate assessments of Borssele’s lot I and II wind areas in 2014.
“This order represents a continuation of the work in Borssele and in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Public Works” said Marc Kreft, senior project manager at Grontmij. “It shows confidence in our knowledge and experience, and underscores our good cooperation.”
