This will equal 100 percent of the energy consumption of Grupo Bimbo's operations in the US, reaching an annual reduction in emissions from CO 2 of 260,000 tons.
The agreement is part of Grupo Bimbo's initiative to become the first 100% renewable bakery company in the US. by 2020.
Santa Rita Wind is located approximately 70 miles west of San Angelo, in Reagan and Irion Counties, Texas. The facility consists of 120 GE 2.5 MW wind turbines. The 300 MW wind farm is currently under construction and commercial operation is expected to commence in the first quarter of this year.
