Dublin Array is an offshore wind farm that is being developed on the Kish and Bray Banks in the Irish Sea, 10 km off the nearest coast of Dublin and Wicklow.
With a potential installed capacity of at least 600 MW, the Dublin Array could generate enough green electricity to meet the demands of over half a million homes. This means a large proportion of the electricity needed by Dublin could potentially be supplied by Dublin Array.
The project has been developed so far by Saorgus Energy. Saorgus Energy and Innogy have now agreed to a strategic partnership to further progress the development through to planning consent. This next phase of development will be led by Innogy with support from Saorgus Energy.
Aidan Forde, Director of Saorgus Energy, said, "We are pleased that Innogy, with its extensive offshore wind experience, is on board with us in the development of the Dublin Array project. Once operational, Dublin Array will help enable the Irish Government to meet its 2020-2030 EU energy targets, will contribute to increasing the diversity of renewable energy supply in Ireland and will deliver much-needed clean electricity to Dublin."
