Intertek was listed as a certification body by C-WET, an autonomous research and development institution under the Government of India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), on March 18, 2014. The company joins a select group of certification bodies recognized by C-WET to test and certify complete Wind Turbine Generation Systems (WTGs) in accordance with IEC international standards and GL Guidelines for safety and performance of wind turbines.
C-WET’s role is to act as a technical focal point of excellence to foster the development of wind power in India. The centre’s goal is to find complete solutions to address challenges and opportunities across the entire spectrum of the wind energy sector. Intertek’s services to the wind energy sector include type certification, type testing, design review, compliance planning, component evaluation, field labelling, on-site inspection, and performance characteristics reports.
“Intertek is looking forward to a productive partnership with this important programme” said Sunny Rai, Regional Vice President for Renewable Energy at Intertek. “Wind power is a rapidly evolving industry and it is more important than ever for manufacturers selling or installing wind power in India to understand the applicable regulations and standards. Intertek will continue to expand our breadth of services to support manufacturers’ need to quickly launch the highest quality new products in the global marketplace.”
According to Rajesh Saigal, Intertek’s Managing Director for South Asia, wind energy is a promising technology in India which can supplement existing grid power generation.
