“Near-shore wind on the Gulf Coast compliments Louisiana’s long and rich legacy of energy development,” said Chris Rogers, Senior Vice President of Development for Vestas North America.
“We look forward to this unique opportunity to actively engage with State leaders and work alongside local communities to spur investment in a safe, clean energy future, while securing significant economic benefits to support the local economy.”
While the Cajun Wind Project remains in an early stage, the operating agreement will allow formal development to commence including wind measurement campaigns, environmental studies, and direct engagement with the local community.
Steelhead leverages Vestas’ industry expertise and turbine technology to advance existing markets and unlock new geographic markets in North America, including the exploration of U.S. near-shore wind opportunities.
Since being formed in 2016, Steelhead has built a robust wind development pipeline and a proven track record of unlocking new markets as evidenced by its successful development of Delta, Mississippi’s first wind farm.
