The 75MW Mid Hill I and 40MW Rothes II are being developed by independent Norwegian clean tech company Fred.Olsen Renewables.
Natural Power will carry out drilling and geological enquiries that adhere to the latest guideline for geotechnical design the Eurocode 7. The study will commence immediately with construction due to begin at the end of 2011.
“We are very pleased to have been awarded the main ground investigation contracts for the Mid Hill and Rothes sites and feel we can add real value and support to Fred Olsen Renewables’ wind farm development activities,” Toby Gilbert, head of site investigations at Natural Power.
“A significant proportion of this work will utilise our new in-house drilling team to supply high quality geotechnical data for turbine foundation design. We are confident our low ground-pressure rig and support vehicles will cope well with the arduous terrain,” Gilbert said.
