Under the terms of the contract, Nordex will deliver 21 turbines for the project in August 2012 and Statkraft has also signed a premium service agreement for a five-year period.
This first phase of delivery will be able to generate approximately 180 GW hours a year, sufficient to meet the demand from some 39,000 British households.
The Baillie Wind Farm is located near to the north coast of Scotland and represents a £60m investment from Statkraft. It is scheduled to be operational by 2013.
“We are very pleased to be working with Statkraft for the first time,” said Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, CSO sales and marketing at Nordex. “During the negotiations we showed once again that we are able to react flexibly to the complex requirements of a major utility. This is a good basis for future projects together.”
Earlier this year, Nordex announced its intention to enter the offshore market with a plan to develop a 6 MW turbine.
Last month, the company was contracted by Way Wind to supply a 120 MW facility in the US state of Nebraska, and in May it entered the Chinese market with orders for two projects in the north of the country.
