Peikko will be responsible for the design of the foundation structure and the delivery of PSB punching reinforcement systems for the project’s 22 foundations. Deliveries are scheduled between June and October 2023, and the wind farm is expected to be operational by the end of 2024.
The original developer of the wind farm was Tornator, whose rights were purchased by OX2 Finland Oy in 2020. OX2 has completed the wind farm’s development. Owners of the wind farm are energy company Helen Ltd. and Bank of Åland's Wind Power Fund. Once commissioned, OX2 will be responsible for the technical and commercial management of the wind farm. Destia, the main contractor for the civil works, will plan and construct roads, lifting areas, and foundation works, and will also build the wind farm's electricity and data networks. Siemens Gamesa will supply 22 units of SGRE 6.6-170 turbines, each with a maximum tip height of 250 metres.
“We are proud to have been chosen as the supplier for this geographically significant wind power project in Eastern Finland” said Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Corporation. “Our Gravity7 solution provides an optimal solution in terms of safety, CO2 emissions, and costs. Being part of green energy production supports our goals for a more sustainable way to design and build.”
Peikko’s onshore wind turbine foundations optimise the use of steel and concrete and reduces installation time in all parts of the process. Our foundation solution is flexible and always tailored according to specific customer and project needs. The delivery can comprise wind turbine foundation design and components.
