The five REpower 3.2M114 turbines that comprise the wind farm will produce around 28 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually – enough for around 7,500 homes.
The second turbine on the site was erected yesterday, 8 October.
Through the 5,000 turbines the company has deployed worldwide, REpower has installed more than 9.6 GW of capacity, enough to supply more than 18 million people – or the entire population of the Netherlands – with electricity.
The Hamburg-based company is also setting new standards offshore, demonstrated by its 6 MW turbines, the most powerful series-manufactured offshore turbines in the world.
The world’s largest offshore wind farm comprised of 6 MW turbines, Thornton Bank, entered operation on 17 September 2013. There, 48 REpower 6M and six REpower 5M turbines generate enough electricity for 600,000 people.
“We stand for quality. And that’s what energy companies demand from their wind power plants just as public wind farms do for independent electricity generation," saidREpower Systems CEO Andreas Nauen. "We are delighted that we contribute to a clean energy supply as a reliable partner with project-specific solutions and products that meet our customer’s needs.”
The German domestic market is making a strong contribution to REpower’s business. In the first half of 2013, REpower installed more than 200 MW in Germany, thereby achieving a 21 per cent market share.
In Schleswig-Holstein, its market share of installed turbines is more than 50 per cent in the first half of 2013. Nauen said the company's goal for 2013 is to achieve a stable, double-digit market share in Germany.
