REpower inks contract to provide 25 turbines for wind project in the US

REpower USA Corp., a subsidiary of REpower Systems AG, will provide 25 turbines with a total capacity of 51 MW for wind farms being developed EverPower Wind Holdings, Inc. in the US states of New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington.

The deal, finalised this morning and the first between the two companies, includes an option for EverPower to purchase an additional 85 units at a later date.

The REpower MM92 turbines, each with a rated power of 2.05 MW and a hub height of 80 metres, are destined for projects EverPower will develop over the next three years. The first 25 turbines are to be delivered next summer and commissioned by the end of the year.

Each turbine produces up to 6.5 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of wind electricity per year.

In addition to installation and commissioning the turbines, REpower and EverPower have entered into a long term service and maintenance agreement.

Speaking of the deal, Jim Spencer, President and CEO of EverPower Wind Power, said his company chose to partner with REpower because it has “some of the industry’s highest yields and is known for quality and reliability”.

“We are hopeful that we will be able to deploy most of these turbines in New York and New Jersey where we have advanced development assets,” he said.

Steve Dayney, Managing Director of REpower USA, struck an equally positive note, predicting, “With our industry proven solutions, EverPower will benefit from the powerful MM92 turbine plant technology.”

REpower USA Corp., headquartered in Denver, Colorado, has now installed or sold more than 400 wind turbines with a total power of more than 800 MW in the US. Wind farms with REpower turbines have been constructed or installed in the US states of Washington, Oregon, California, Michigan, and Indiana for a diverse group of customers.
