RES Anatolia - a part of the RES group which has developed and constructed over 7 000 MW of wind capacity across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific - obtained the license for the project in 2012 and is partnering with STFA for the construction of the plant which is expected to commence in the last quarter of 2014.
"This plant ranks in the top 4 of the 148 projects granted in recent wind tenders in terms of size," said Ayhan Gok, RES Anatolia's Country Manager. "We are delighted to be partnering with STFA in this venture which will be on a 50:50 basis. Our expertise in renewable energy, combined with STFA's construction experience and presence in the Turkish energy market, makes this a winning combination".
STFA is one of Turkey's most well-established and reputable conglomerates providing services in the construction, natural gas distribution, construction equipment and construction chemicals sectors. STFA celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
"Growth in the energy sector is one of our key strategies for 2013. And we believe that this partnership that we built with RES will both help us move towards our goal and also contribute to Turkey's energy supply," said STFA CEO Mehmet Ali Neyzi.
The project forms part the government's long term strategic plan to achieve 20,000 MW installed wind capacity in Turkey by 2023.
