Samsung Heavy Industries and KOSEP, a unit of the state-run Korea Electric Power Corp., will fund around 51 per cent of the $208 million (€158.5 million) project, with the remainder to be financed by the Macedonian government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The facility, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2012, is located about 110 kilometres east of Madeconia’s capital city of Skopje.
Once completed, the two firms have contracts to operate the facility for the next 20 years.
