The nine 3.2 MW Siemens D3 turbines will be deployed in the Belgian municipalities of Dessel and Mol as well as in Beveren, at the Sibelco and Katoen Natie wind projects. EDF Luminus, is mainly owned by Électricité de France (EDF) with a 63.5 percent stake. The wind energy order includes a service and maintenance agreement for a period of 15 years.
“The new contract with EDF Luminus is an important achievement for us” said Thomas Richterich, CEO Onshore, Siemens Wind Power. “That consolidates a long-term collaboration with EDF Luminus and strengthens our position in the Belgian market.”
The two wind power plants have a combined generation capacity of 28.8 MW. The 19.2 MW Katoen Natie wind farm is located in the port of Antwerp in the municipality of Beveren. The 9.6 MW Sibelco wind farm is located in Dessel and Mol. Both projects will be equipped with the Siemens SWT-3.2-113 wind turbine with a rotor diameter of 113 meters and a rating of 3.2 MW. The nacelles of the Katoen Natie and Sibelco projects will be mounted on towers with hub heights of 127.5 metres and 99.5 metres respectively. Installation of the turbines will commence in October 2017.
