Word of the planned litigation -- to begin as soon as any official approval of the wind farm appears imminent -- came from George Sorial, the executive in charge of Trump's Aberdeen golf resort project.
Speaking with Bloomberg on Sunday, Sorial said his boss has put his own development plans on hold until a decision is made on the proposal to install 11 wind turbines in Aberdeen Bay, a £230 million development known as the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre.
Trump's £750 million project is set to include a world-class gold course, a five-star hotel, 500 homes and 950 rental apartments.
But he has said -- loudly and often -- the "ugly" wind turbines will destroy the value of his investment, and Scottish tourism more generally.
“It will be many years before we have exhausted the appeals process, which we will certainly do,” Sorial told Bloomberg. “We are confident they will never be built.”
The European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre is a venture between Vattenfall AB, Technip SA and Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group.
The JV has been seeking approval to erect the turbines 2.4 kilometers off the coast since 2011. To date, Marine Scotland has yet to give its approval to the project.
