The order for the Waterloo Wind Farm project has been placed by Roaring 40s Renewable Energy Pty Ltd – a partnership between energy giants China Light & Power (CLP) Group and Hydro Tasmania – which has been a long-term customer of Vestas through three existing wind farm projects in Australia. “We have built a strong relationship with Vestas over the years and this is the fourth project we have conducted in Australia with their support,” says Peter Berry, Managing Director of Roaring 40s. “Vestas’ track record of performance, together with their cooperation throughout the financial close process have been key factors behind securing this deal.”
“We are delighted to have been chosen as the preferred wind energy solution partner for Roaring 40’s in the development of the Waterloo Wind Farm and helping them realise their vision to be the leading renewable energy developer in Australia,” said Sean Sutton, President of Vestas Asia Pacific.
Shipment of the turbines is scheduled for the last quarter of 2009, with site delivery and installation to take place in 2010.
