The turbines are part of the Jóźwin wind farm which will have an overall capacity of 30.3 MW and has been constructed in association with German construction company Max Bögl. Eight of the turbines, of the GE2.85 type, are near the community of Kleczew with another, a GE2.5 turbine, near Ślesin. This is directly adjacent to the Nieświastów project in the municipality of Kazimierz Biskupi, where Vortex Energy is now deploying two further GE2.5 turbines.
“The particular challenge of this small wind farm was to find a bank which was willing to handle such a small volume under the prevailing market conditions” said Dr. Till Jeske, CEO of vortex energy Holding AG. “After the failure of the first financing process we were grateful that the BOŚ Bank, with the dynamic support of the BOŚ Bank subsidiary BOŚ Eko-Profit, stepped into the breech at a late stage under considerable pressure of time and completed the process successfully with us.”
The smaller wind farm will be connected to the Jóźwin 110kV transformer station, which vortex energy is erecting under contract to Future Energy Sp. z o.o. Together with the grid operator Energa Operator. The turbines are expected to begin producing power for the grid at the end of 2015.
After the commissioning, Vortex Energy will take over the technical and commercial management as well as the commercial balancing including electricity sales for own energy consumption. The Nieświastów project will increase the company’s installed wind capacity to a total of more than 340 MW, generating more than 990 GWh of clean renewable energy supplying 300,000 homes and displacing 525,038 tonnes of CO2.
Vortex Energy was founded in 2004 and currently employs 65 people in Szczecin and Kassel. The company specialises in the planning, construction and operation of wind turbines and solar power installations in Poland and Germany. It has been one of the top three leading Polish companies in the wind energy market and has constructed 15 wind farms to date with a joint capacity of 341.2 MW in Germany and Poland, including several large-scale projects.
